Tonight I spent time visiting a friend who tragically lost her youngest child and (only daughter) two years ago this week. Honestly, I haven't been a good friend. Initially, I was there for her daily. Then it turned into checking on her each week. Then a few months went by. Now that I think about it, the last time we talked was about a year ago. I have a million reasons (excuses) why I have been so busy, but none of them matter. For me, time is one of the most precious things I have yet I find myself sacrificing my time with people to attend to tasks. For her, time has stood still and she longs to recapture those treasured moments with her daughter that she now holds so dear. As you allocate your time for the things that are "important" don't forget that the people in your life deserve the same (actually more) time from you.
Staff Spotlight
This week I would like to shine the spotlight on Lauren Plummer. If you want to see someone who has patience beyond measure, you have to visit Lauren's classroom. She has students that truly push the limits with their behavior. She remains calm and is firm in her expectations. She goes above and beyond to communicate with parents and for her, differentiation is the name of the game. Although this is only Lauren's third year, she has been a great resource for Ainsley Kurtz, who is a first year teacher. Lauren also volunteered to serve as the Special Education grade chair when Lindsay Padgett goes out on maternity leave. She is dedicated to her students and our school. Lauren, thank you for giving students your best and expecting the same from them.
